  • Clear Pied cockatiel (Clear Pied cockatiels look identical to Lutions but don't have red eyes).

  • Hand raised

  • Tame

  • Steps up onto your finger

  • Loves head scratches

  • Great Companion

  • Loves being on your shoulder and will whistle tunes in your ear

  • 2 years old

  • Male

  • Was found by a good Samaritan who brought him to the San Diego Humane Society.  We rescued him from there.

  • Had general avian exams by avian vet Dr. Cecil and been tested for PBFD & Psittacosis (both negative).  All medical paperwork provided to adopter.

  • Currently eats a diet consisting of pellets, unsalted organic edamame, hard boiled egg white, kale and mixed greens, cooked black beans and organic

  • baked sweet potato. We are in the process of expanding his healthy diet.

  • Adoption fee:  $175  includes a brand new A & E powder coated cage which is 32" long, 21" wide, and 5' tall and this cage is on wheels  (This same cage cost $430 at Our Feathered Friends)

  • Verdi used to whistle a lot more than he does now.  We believe that's because his foster mom can't whistle due to a gap in her front teeth but we also think that in a home where Verdi has someone to whistle to him, he can whistle a whole bunch of different tunes.

  • Verdi loves to be misted with a spray bottle on hot days when he's outside (see video below)

  • SAN DIEGO County residents only

  • Bird experienced adopter preferred

  • Adult only home please

We expect applicants to  have read up on cockatiels and their care prior to applying.  We also expect adopters to get annual exams from an avian vet for any of our birds.

Verdi's foster mom was thinking she was going to adopt him, but she wants him to get more attention than she can give him.  If a superior home can't be located, she'll adopt him herself.

Please follow these steps in interested in adopting:

1.  Read his bio carefully

2.  Fill out an adoption app from our website here (copy & paste into your browser):

https://www.animalalliancesd.org/adoption

3.  If we think you and Verdi could be a great we'll contact you within a few days of your applying.    We're a very small volunteer-based rescue taking care of lots of animals so we don't have time to contact everyone who applies or respond to all inquires.   Thank you for your interest in Verdi!
