Mango

-
Double yellow-headed Amazon
-
Hand raised
-
Tame
-
Steps up onto your finger
-
Rides on your shoulder
-
Enjoys head scratches from his human "flock members"
-
Thought to be female by one of our avian vets
-
Loves listening to music and makes funny sounds
-
Sometimes sounds like she's saying "hello" and other words
-
Enjoys taking showers with her foster dad
-
Loves to be misted with a spray bottle when she's in her cage or on hot days when she's outside in her hawk proofed aviary (see video below)
-
Makes a great "watch bird." Mango's cage faces a window to a driveway. She makes lots of noise when she sees someone drive up such as an Amazon delivery person or her foster dad.
-
Had general avian exams by three different avian vets. Mango's been tested for PBFD & Psittacosis (both negative). All medical paperwork provided to adopter.
-
Healthy
-
Was found by a good Samaritan who brought her to the San Diego Humane Society. We rescued her from there.
-
Since she was a stray from an animal shelter we do not know her age. One of our three avian vets estimated her to be about 15 years old. The other two avian vets did not say.
-
Adoption fee: $500 includes a new powder coated cage which is 36" wide, 26" deep, and 5' 5" tall and this cage is on wheels which roll freely. This same cage cost $440 at Our Feathered Friends 2 years ago and cages have gone up dramatically in price since Covid.

Please follow these steps in interested in adopting:
1. Read her bio carefully.
2. Fill out an adoption app from our website here:
https://www.animalalliancesd.org/adoption
3. If we think you and Mango could be a great we'll contact you within a few days of your applying. We're a very small volunteer-based rescue taking care of lots of animals so we don't have time to contact everyone who applies or respond to all inquires. Thank you for understanding.
