Esmee is..

  • A Lapdog

  • Melts like butter in your arms

  • Playful

  • Fine with everyone including strangers

  • A dog you could take with you anywhere

  • Great companion

  • Endearing

  • Loves stuffed toys

  • Loves chasing balls

  • Not shy

  • Loves playing with other dogs (see videos)

  • She currently lives in a household with dogs ranging in size from 7 to 16 lbs. and gets along with all of them.  We don't know how she is with large dogs but don't think she should be in a home with a large active dog who might trample her.

  • Hypoallergenic so perfect for someone who doesn't want a shedding dog

  • Will need to be professionally groomed regularly.

  • Wants to be near you.

  • Very treat motivated

  • Not a picky eater - will gobble up plain kibble

  • Walks well on a leash (harness is recommended for all our dogs)

  • Has not been with cats under our care so we don't know how she is with them

  • Lives in a home with parrots and doesn't pay attention to them

  • Currently being housetrained using the crate training method.  Almost there.  Esmee does not know how to ask to go out since her foster mom who has many dogs from shelters in her home  takes them out all together.

  • Toy Poodle

  • 3 years 6 months old

  • 8 lbs

  • Microchipped

  • Shots up to date

  • Healthy

  • Just had a dental cleaning so has sparkling white teeth

  • All medical paperwork provided

  • Respectful children 10 and up

  • San Diego County residents only

  • Adoption fee $595

We rescued Esmee from a local shelter.  A Good Samaritan brought her there saying they found her.  Esmee was lactating at the time and the shelter didn't know if she was pregnant so they did x-rays but didn't see any puppies.  The shelter vets attributed her lactation by recently having puppies.  No one knows what happened to her puppies but we're guessing they were sold by her previous owner.

If interested in Esmee these are the steps:

1.  Read her bio carefully to make sure she's the right dog for you and you meet the adoption requirements.

2.  Fill out an adoption app from our website here (copy & paste this hyperlink into your browser):

https://www.animalalliancesd.org/adoption

3.  If we think you and Esmee could be a great fit we'll contact you within 72 hours of receiving your application.    We're a very small volunteer-based rescue taking care of lots of animals so we don't have time to contact everyone who applies or respond to all inquires.  We're very sorry and we're hoping this will change soon. Due to the popularity of her breed, how cute and good natured she is, we anticipate many applications so don't get discouraged if you're not contacted.  All our adoption decisions are based on what we believe is in the best interest of the animal.
